We appreciate you taking the time read our backstage rules and for your cooperation on recital day! In order for our recital days to go as smoothly as planned we need everyone to participate!
1. All students should arrive 30-45 minutes ahead of show time in costume with stage hair and make up complete.
2. Upon arrival (granted that the previous show has let out ) all students should be checked in at the check in table. Students will be escorted to the dressing rooms by backstage helpers. Parents should say goodbye at this point unless there are special circumstances! (The dressing rooms become very crowded so the less parents backstage the better...there just isn't space..thank you!)
3. All students should have 1 bag packed with all necessary shoes, tights, hair pieces, skirts/tutus/pants/shorts, and other accessories. All items should be labeled with student name. (as students get older we realize 1 bag is not feasible)
4. Only water is allowed backstage.
5. PLEASE REMEMBER TO BE KIND TO RECITAL VOLUNTEERS AND DANCE ME STAFF!! THIS IS A VERY SPECIAL DAY FOR EVERYONE, BUT IT IS VERY HECTIC AND REQUIRES A LOT OF COORDINATION AND PATIENCE. THE CHECK IN PROCESS CAN BE LENGTHY BUT IS QUICKEST WITH PATIENCE AND TEAM WORK FROM EVERYONE! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
DANCE ME RECITAL 2020
If you are new to the dance recital world it may seem a bit overwhelming at first. Once you get through your first year you will be a pro! Have no fear, we are here to help! If you have questions please don’t hesitate to ask!
(Preschool, Kindy/1st and Blue/Purple Only)
(30-45 mins prior to show time)
All students will be brought over to the check-in table where they will sign in with the designated volunteers. Parents, you need to know the day, time, and teacher name in order to check in. For example: 9am, Tuesday, Miss Celine. This is how we will check your child in. After this, your child will be brought back into the dressing room by a recital helper where they will be organized by class animals. Due to the lack of space and number of people, parents will not be allowed back in the dressing room unless previously discussed with their teacher. Parents can then go sit and enjoy the show!
**Please arrive to the venue with hair and makeup complete and dressed in the first costume.
During the show:
Children will be changed backstage into their additional costumes by teachers and recital volunteers. Parents do not need to come back stage to change their child's costumes. We want to make sure you get to enjoy the show and not have to be running back and forth backstage. This has worked very well year after year!
We will be setting up a few seats at the front of the theater for you to get a closer view when your child is on stage. You may sit upfront in the additional chairs to watch only when you child is on stage. Once your child is done dancing, please go back to your assigned seat. Please only move about the auditorium in between dances to avoid blocking the view of others.
***Boys will have their own dress room. We do not have a male volunteer to help with changing so if your boy needs help changing please come backstage between dances. thank you!
After the show:
After the show, your children will be brought out onto the stage for a final bow. Once the house lights come up they can be picked up from the front of the auditorium. They will have their bags at this time. Please exit the venue in a timely manner as we have back to back shows! Thanks!
Please remember to pack all costume pieces including:
Tights (Ballet Pink = Ballet, Nude = Tap/Jazz/Lyrical/etc unless otherwise specified)
Any additional accessories
**Everything should be labeled with student’s name!
